Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Do I have to commit to a regular time with you or can I call as needed?
Absolutely you can call as needed. However, at the same time, please keep in mind that I schedule around clients who do have regular schedules. So it might make sense to book something regular to get into my regular rotation.

What if I am going away - will I lose my spot with you?

No! I retain your schedule for when you return. Please just give me as much notice as possible so I can rearrange things while you are away.
What if I have to cancel you on a day?

Recognizing the value of your time and mine, I ask for 24 hour notice (preferably more!) if you do not need me in one of our scheduled time. There is a $60 charge for a missed or cancelled appointment where there is no notice.

Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance.
Will you be able to stay over if I need you?

While I usually do not do overnight visits, I will work with you to assess how I might help and if the situation warrants it, and I am available, I will stay overnight.

Do you offer childcare?
Yes I do! I have families where I do childcare, including picking up from school, getting them to appointments etc. I have both younger and older siblings and am very comfortable with children from newborns to teenagers. By the way, I also offer animal care!
Do you charge for transportation?
Here is a complete list of my tranportation charges:

-
My usual rate includes making local trips with or without a client within a 10 mile radius.
-
For trips to NYC, my rate is $75 / hour and that will include the mileage to NYC
-
For other trips over 10 miles, there is an additional $.75 / mile that will be applied to the entire trip
-
For client visits to nursing homes and hospitals, I charge my time starting when I leave my home or other client. No mileage charge for those visits.

Do you take clients with dementia?
Yes I do. I am able to work with dementia clients quite well and I can provide structure and routine for them that can keep them in their familiar circumstances for as long as possible. Being in familiar circumstances helps enormously with quality of life.
